From Canvas to Clothing

My fashion designs begin long before a garment exists — they start in the studio, with paint, collage, texture, and movement. Each abstract piece I create becomes a visual playground for new colors, shapes, and layers.

By digitally transforming sections of these paintings, I reimagine them as wearable art: tops, coats, mesh pieces, and more. Every garment carries a story — the marks, gestures, and emotions originally made on canvas now move with the body rather than live on a wall.

Here, you’ll see a behind-the-scenes look at how a single painting can inspire multiple fashion pieces, each with its own personality and expression.

Mixed Media 40"x30"

Sold at Stockley Gardens Art Show Fall 2025

"Eyes To See" is one of the more recent paintings I transformed into clothing — and it opened the door to a whole new set of designs. The layered figures, organic forms, and energetic color fields became the perfect source material for creating prints that feel alive on fabric.

From this single artwork came an entire mini-collection of tops and outerwear, each highlighting a different part of the composition.

From Painting to Photomontage

My photomontages begin with one of my original mixed-media paintings. I photograph the painting, then digitally layer it with additional images—often nature photography, textures, or other paintings. By blending and manipulating these layers, new colors, patterns, and shapes emerge that aren’t present in the original piece.

This digital transformation allows me to explore the artwork in an entirely new way, creating compositions that feel both familiar and unexpected. Many of these photomontages become the source material for my clothing designs, where the layered imagery translates beautifully onto fabric.
